Latest Project: SC41 Furniture
We’re happy to announce the launch of SC41’s revamped website, www.sc41.com. SC41 is located in Santa Cruz, CA, and specializes in environmentally-friendly furnishings and bedding. SC41 really epitomizes what is means to be truly eco-friendly, from organic linens and low-impact manufacturing, to reclaimed wood and bamboo furnishings… even the floors and paint inside the showroom are eco-friendly. In addition, most of the furniture at SC41 is simply beautiful…. just see for yourself at www.sc41.com.
The design was inspired by the texture of organic fabrics, with the contrast of rich colored woods. We wanted to do something elegant, but trendy, and that incorporated the modern feel of SC41’s branding. This site includes valid CSS and XHTML, WordPress Blog, email signup, Flash goodies here and there, and tons of useful eco information.

CDS on The Best Designs
We’ve had some of our work featured on The Best Designs in the past, but our own website was always passed up. We’re happy to say that our new design made the cut today! Please have a look at all of the amazing sites on The Best Designs… there are some simply phenomenal websites out there. All designers have that one coveted award or recognition they always strive for, and this site is mine. It’s been in existence for quite some time, and I’ve been following it for years.

New Site Design
Hello fellow bloggers and design freaks, you’ve probably noticed the new site design this week. We received quite a bit of kudos for the last design, mainly for its use of bold colors and giant header. We wanted to keep that appeal with this new design, but add a bit more “organic” feel to it. I’m a big fan of the watercolor look and wanted to do something like that for a long time. It’s always risky to change something that has been received so well, but after a year or so we get the itch for something new. Hope you like it!

Corvus Takes 4th in Top 100 Designs of 2008
We’re happy to have learned that Corvus Design Studio has been placed at #4 in the top 100 CSS designs of 2008, according to Nerd Business.

Latest Project: Baxter Clare Website
Although it’s not completely finished, we’re excited to launch the new www.BaxterClare.com, a website for author Baxter Clare (aka Baxter Trautman). There will be a standard XHTML version for slower connections, but for now the flash site live. This site includes everything: custom photography, graphic animations, custom mixed sound effects, XML data utilization, fullscreen options, and more. The most noteable features include:
- Alternates between a nighttime and daytime scene at 7:00pm and 8:00am
- Viewer can toggle between day and night at will (click the clock)
- XML (RSS) feed from Baxter’s blog
- XML mp3 player disguised as a vintage radio
- Sql/PHP/Flash Guestbook
- Fullscreen mode
- Scales to fill any resolution
- Custom mixed soundscapes
- Lots of hand drawn and photo manipulated animations and effects
- Actual imagery from Baxter’s writing space
Hope you enjoy, and please note that this is a rather large site (nearly 2mb included sound), and although it’s optimized as much as possible it is best viewed on a widescreen monitor, and a computer with high speed internet access and at least 1Gb ram. (there will be a non-flash site coming very soon)

The Anthropod Blog
Our blog tends to stray quite a bit from web and graphic design information, and more into art and technology. Our lead designer, Jessica Miller, has launched a new, personal blog at www.anthropodblog.com, which will be geared more towards art, photography, technology, local stuff and much more. Latest Project: Even Newer JJM Photo
We’re happy to announce an even newer, more expanded flash website for JJM Photo (our lead artists photo website). This site is a Flash/XML utilizing true full screen with scalable images. We’re quite pleased with the outcome. This will be an every-growing gallery of nature photography (and maybe some other things, too). Jessica recently acquired a 300mm f/4.0 L IS Canon lens and will be practicing quite a bit with it! Please check out the site and feel free to leave your feedback here.

The CDS Shop is Live!
We recently started a new CafePress store with some CDS merchandise, and other non-branded stuff. The goal is to raise money for charitable oranizations, including Unicef, ONE, Fight Global Warming, and the WWF. We started with two prototype tote bags branded with our signature floral embellish and contact information, one for myself, and a one as a gift for my Mom. Surprisingly, everytime I use it at the market I get inquiries about where I got it, and the same with my Mom. We’ve had so many requests for the bag we decided to launch the shop now, before it’s finished. So, please note that available products are limited right now, and that we plan to grow the store with dozens more products and designs in the near future. And, if you have any product or design requests, please send us a note and we’ll do our best to provide it.
