Magnetic Movie by Semiconductor Films

Magnetic Movie by Semiconductor Films

This is one of my favorite films. Created In NASA’s Space Sciences Lab, it shows the chaotic life of magnetic fields. Very cool!
“The secret lives of invisible magnetic fields are revealed as chaotic ever-changing geometries . All action takes place around NASA’s Space Sciences Laboratories, UC Berkeley, to recordings of space scientists describing their discoveries [...]

First Photos of the Barreleye

First Photos of the Barreleye

I remember reading about the Barreleye back in college when I was majoring in BioChem. It’s a deep sea fish with a transparent head and barrel eyes. Very interesting looking… and strange. NatGeo has the first photos ever taken of a live Barreleye.

New Site Design

Hello fellow bloggers and design freaks, you’ve probably noticed the new site design this week. We received quite a bit of kudos for the last design, mainly for its use of bold colors and giant header. We wanted to keep that appeal with this new design, but add a bit more “organic” feel to it. [...]

Nano Snowman

Meet the tiniest snowman ever created, measuring an amazing 0.01mm across (1/5 the width of a human hair). Although not actually made of snow, it sure is cute. In reality the tiny snowman is made from two microscopic tin beads welded together with platinum. Normally these beads are used to calibrate electron microscopes. David Cox, a [...]

Retro PhilcoPC

This retro artwork PC was designed and developed by SchultzeWorks, Pasadena, California. The Philco PC placed in the top three in a V-Ray sponosored design competition. Makers say the retro look was inspired by a mix of, “1954 design classic Philco Predicta [television], as well as an eclectic mixture of modern minimalism, the steampunk movement, [...]

Spray paint that uses UV light instead of chemicals… sounds pretty cool. I’d like to see it i person. Here’s what Suck UK says:
“It’s the dead of night; everyone is tucked up in bed and the owls are-a-hooting. So it’s time to break out the Glow Graffiti! Powered with UV light you can write, stencil [...]

Mimo Mini USB Monitor

This is really cool. Everything is turning mini these days, from laptops, netbooks and pc’s. This is the perfect mini peripheral. Wouldn’t it look just perfect setup next to a netbook? It would truly be a micro-setup.
“Looking for that extra bit of screen real estate to get you through the busy workday? Referring to notes while [...]

Digging into Wordpress, the Book

Digging into Wordpress is both a tutorial blog and recently released book, both by Chris Coyier and Jeff Starr. I’ve been the occasional fan of the site, and decided to give the book a try. I suppose it was mostly the sleek and beautiful design of the book itself that drew my [...]

How to get those awesome fonts on your website

Tired of Arial and Times New Roman? Yeah, we were too. There are a couple super simple solutions that we use on our projects that allow the use of a wider range of fonts, without the viewer having to install the font itself. Although there are several solutions, we prefer Google Webfonts and TypeKit. Both [...]
