BRAND DESIGN

ATOM was a fledgling company when we started the brand design. They had an existing logo, but weren’t happy with its somewhat clunky aesthetic. Our approach to redesigning the brand was a “less is more” ideal, specifically aiming for a modern appeal in the simple text-style typical of fashion brands. After some experimentation, the final logo design is decidedly minimal with a subtle masculine aura. A second, Hangul version of the logo was also designed in the same minimal style. The English and Korean versions are used interchangeably throughout ATOM’s collateral and other printed items.

WEBSITE

For the website visual design, we went with a modern fullscreen homepage focused on displaying and grouping on-trend products for easy access. ATOM’s product database is moderate in size, covering many styles and categories, so it made sense to add custom taxonomies for added sorting functionality and user-friendliness.

In keeping with the clean brand, content organization was key. The homepage fits key product groupings – new arrivals, best sellers, top rated products, sale products, and featured products – without overwhelming or confusing the viewer. Product category pages include a sidebar with expanded hierarchy for easy navigation, and single product pages include related products with additional tagging functions to ensure maximum relevancy.

COLLATERAL

For pre-launch, we designed ATOM’s business cards, in-store signage, and outdoor signage / billboard. The cards feature double sided designs with multiple model photos to add interest. The in-store sign, co-designed and created by a local artisan sign maker, is crafted from brushed aluminum with painted black sides, and sits in the center of a an navy blue, opaque plastic panel that extends from floor to ceiling. The outer signage is in a billboard style, meant to be changed 4 times per year to coincide with seasonal changes.
