Project Type: Branding • Website • Collateral
Located on California’s beautiful Central Coast, Talinka & Co. creates artisan gemstone and metalwork jewelry. Talinka’s work can be found in several galleries and boutiques across the nation, and was recently featured in red carpet SWAG bags.
As a premiere jewelry designer, Talinka & Co. needed a fresh online presence with online store, updated identity, and lots of print collateral.
For the website, a clean, light design with simplicity in mind were the main goals of the visual aspects. We wanted to showcase the products themselves, and avoid the design overpowering that. A white background lends a bright and airy feel, and contrasts the jewelry photography nicely.
As Talinka & Co.’s designs are bespoke in nature, we included a product request form for when prototype and one-of-a-kind designs are purchased. The customer simply enters their name and email, and an optional message, and a request to have that particular design custom made is sent to Talinka & Co. Talinka can then opt to setup a custom product and deposit through PayPal, or handle the custom order however they see fit.
With the magazine advertisements, brochures, and other marketing print items, we focused a bit more on the abstract ambiance. The idea was to create a relatable sense of style and an interpretive visual appeal. These adverts were featured in fashion and travel magazines, and so we wanted a couture feel that fit in with the publication’s content.
As an environmentally-conscious brand, we designed a minimal, organic packaging. Each piece is hand-wrapped by Talinka & Co. or their distributors, and is comprised of unprocessed recycled papers and cardboard, making each one unique. The product tags, which are the only items featuring ink, were professionally printed on recycled kraft paper, as well.
Several years ago we started our jewelry business with an Etsy store, which simply wasn’t providing the turn-around we had hoped. So we decided to invest in our own web store, and we’re so happy we did! We pushed our new site on Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest and had a better turn-around than Etsy within the first month. My husband and I attribute the change to the professional presentation of our own site. It reflects the high quality of our product and gives us the credibility and legitimacy that serious buyers look for. The higher volume of sales on our website allowed us to invest in catalog marketing, and full-page ad spreads, all of which we came back to Corvus to design. Today, we’re able to hire well-known professional models for our marketing campaigns, and our designs are featured in galleries across the nation. And it all started with a great online store from Corvus!
